One of the funniest Irish movies in recent years, The Young Offenders hit the big screen last year, with the tale of two Cork inner-city teenagers embarking on a road trip to recover a lost bale of cocaine delighting audiences the world over, becoming the fast Irish film to reach the €1 million mark at the Irish box office and even receiving Special Mention for Best Comedy Debut at the 2016 Fantastic Fest in Austin Texas. Now, Peter Foott’s debut feature is getting the small screen treatment, with BBC Three and BBC Comedy, in association with RTE, commissioning a six part series based on the continuing adventures of loveable rogues Connor MacSweeny (Alex Murphy) and Jock O’Keefe (Chris Walley). Foott will be onboard as writer, director, and executive producer, with Murphy and Walley reprising their roles. Hilary Rose will also as Connor’s mother, Mairead. The series goes into production in Cork this Summer.
